Sunday, August 18, 2024, 10:30 am, 71F (22C), Partly cloudy
On July 30
th and 31
st, a three-member filming crew of professional videographer/documentarian team, hired by AgeWays (formerly Area Agency on Aging 1-B), were at my house interviewing me and filming Sumi and our ADLs (Activities of Daily Living).
AgeWays is conducting an outreach and awareness campaign that would help make family caregivers more aware of the resources that are available to them. As part of this campaign, they would like to make several videos based on the experiences of and the stories real caregivers.
They interviewed me on the 30
th.
On the 31
st, they captured our ADLs, such as:
- Sumi getting out of the bed in morning and me walking her to the bathroom
- Me drying and braiding Sumi's hair
- Making an omelet for Sumi
- Feeding Sumi her morning meal and smoothie
- Me making lunch for the filming crew (lightly spiced, pan seared Mahi Mahi on the kitchen cook top)
- On the deck, Sumi relaxing in a Broda chair and me trimming Sumi's nails and coloring
- Taking Sumi in and out of the house using the garage ramp
- Few of my solos showing the art work, explaining the use of white board calendar
- My interview while watching Sumi's 50-year-old slides using vintage Kodak projector.
The release of the finished videos are scheduled to be by the August end.
It was an experience to remember life-long.
