Podcast Interview by Danielle Karmanos of Karma Has Spoken (February 5, 2020)

A day to remember whole life!

Thank you all for your best wishes on winning the essay contest for the Area Agency on Aging 1-B (AAA 1-B). This year was the first year that AAA 1-B started the Caregiver Champions Luncheon program. Considering it was the first time, it was well organized and a huge success. About 250 people attended – mostly caregivers and their family. The highlight was a very moving, emotional key note speech by local former TV personality, Chuck Gaidica, that brought tears to everyone’s eyes in the audience.

All along I have saying that one of my main objective to write My Journey With Sumi is to increase the awareness of Alzheimer’s disease. There is a book called Alchemist written by Paulo Coelho. I read the book many years ago and the central theme of the book revolves around a quote, “And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”

This seem to be happening to us lately. First, My Sumi won the essay contest, then the part one of our Story was profiled in The Indian Scene. Tomorrow, Subhash Kelkar of Geetanjali radio program will be recording my interview to be aired on Saturday, November 23.

And today was a day to remember forever. I was invited by Danialle Karmanos who has started her own bi-weekly podcast called “Karma Has Spoken.” This podcast is tuned in by thousands of main stream people - influential, thought leaders and movers and shakers - mainly in the Detroit area but may have a reach beyond that. Her website says, “She is obsessed with big-hearted, innovative thinkers - women and men who see obstacles as opportunities. And she loves talking to people who dare-to-dream and make it happen. Especially the ones who do it with camaraderie and kindness.”

I went to Danialle Karmanos’ big mansion type house in Bloomfield for recording. She has her recording studio in her house’s backyard in an igloo shaped, tent-type structure covered with clear plastic. We sat inside the igloo shaped studio and the interview started at 1:00 pm as the sun was filtering through the plastic and the recording artist was recording it. The interview lasted for about 45 minutes. At the end, she asked me, “What are you doing so more people can benefit from My Journey With Sumi?” I told her that with her connection, she can help me reach a larger audience. She is going to look into it and revert to me. The podcast will air sometime in February 2020.
